Fees for new members
All members are
required to purchase a share in the club. Shares are allocated on a first-come,
first-serve basis (no exceptions). There is a fixed number of
shares, dictated by the club's by-laws. A share can change
ownership only when there is both a buyer and a seller for
that share.
The purchase price of a share is C$
190. This is a one-time
charge, and this is the value
that will be reimbursed when you sell your share in the
future (provided that the club has a buyer at that time).
When purchasing a new share, an
administration fee of C$ 60 is applied. This is also a separate one-time charge (in addition the value of the C$ 190 share purchase price),
but the C$ 60 is non-refundable, and is not
reimbursed when your share is sold.
The annual dues must also be paid
when buying a new share. The club applies the regular annual fees (i.e. no late fees) to all new shares no matter when they
are purchased. The dues are thus C$ 375 for new members.
A new membership for the
upcoming season will thus have a total cost of C$ 625 ($190 + $60
+ $375). In future years, the cost of maintaining your member is just the amount of the dues (currently C$ 375).
Selling your share
If a buyer is identified for your
share when you choose to sell it, you will receive a
reimbursement of $190 (the value of the share). A share
reimbursement is paid only when a buyer has been identified.
If there happens not to be a buyer for your share at any
given moment, your membership is deemed to continue and your
annual dues must be paid on-time even if you are no
longer resident in the area.
Please note that any outstanding
payments on your account will be deducted from the value of
your share reimbursement.
